PAEC Teacher Training Program:
Early Dance Education Certification &
Junior Dance Teacher/Teacher Assistant Certification
The full day TTP Early Dance Education Membership course is open to all dance teachers (minimum age 17) interested in honing their skills with children aged 3-6 years of age. This course focuses on teaching the fundamentals to the early years, covering topics that include: knowledge of child development, speaking to children in a positive manner, discussing behaviours and strategies for success and use of props in the classroom. The afternoon will review the PAEC EDE syllabus, and have interactive discussions and demonstrations for creative ideas. After completion of course knowledge, a successful candidate will gain their PAEC Early Dance Education Membership, and will receive certification. The Junior Teacher/Dance Assistant Training Course is designed for dancers aged 13 and older who aspire to enhance their ability to assist dance instructors or lead classes independently. This course emphasizes leadership development, effective class preparation, and a clear understanding of role responsibilities. Barbara Keenliside – Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
As an Honours Graduate of the Sheridan College Early Childhood Education Program, Barbara is the Supervisor and lead teacher of a cooperative preschool. As an educator, she takes every opportunity, big or small, to provide positive experiences for every child. Barbara believes each child is unique and has their own style of learning. Her goal is to provide a caring environment where all children feel safe to explore, create, and grow. Barbara is a full member of PAEC in the divisions of Ballet and Tap, and a Ballet examiner, as well as an Examiner-In-Training for the Tap division. Barbara sits on the Executive Board at PAEC and has specialized in teaching creative movement for students of various schools in the Halton and Hamilton regions.
