Associate Ballet Membership Teacher Training Program:
Associate Ballet Teacher Training Course –
May 9th – 10th, 2026
Location: Northern Edge Sport Recreation Centre

Schedule:
Day 1: Schedule – May 9th
10:00AM – 12:00PM. Pre-Primary – Grade 1 Levels
12:30pm – 1:00pm. Lunch (Please bring your own)
1:300pm – 4:30pm. Grade 2 – Elementary 2 Levels
Day 2: Schedule – May 10th – Demonstration Day
Demonstrations will be scheduled in 30 – 40 min increments beginning at approximately 4:30pm. Please bring 2 -3 students available to use for your demonstration practice at this time. This is an opportunity for you to put your new-found knowledge into practice and apply the concepts of the material learned through the course.
Successful completion of the course entitles the participant to an ASSOCIATE PAEC BALLET MEMBERSHIP.
Course participants will obtain a course completion certificate, and a full course manual with the course payment.
Junior Dance Teacher/Teacher Assistant Certification &
Early Dance Education Certification
The full day TTP Early Dance Education Membership course is open to all dance teachers (minimum age 17) interested in honing their skills with children aged 3-6 years of age. This course focuses on teaching the fundamentals to the early years, covering topics that include: knowledge of child development, speaking to children in a positive manner, discussing behaviours and strategies for success and use of props in the classroom. The afternoon will review the PAEC EDE syllabus, and have interactive discussions and demonstrations for creative ideas. After completion of course knowledge, a successful candidate will gain their PAEC Early Dance Education Membership, and will receive certification.
The Junior Teacher/Dance Assistant Training Course is designed for dancers aged 13 and older who aspire to enhance their ability to assist dance instructors or lead classes independently. This course emphasizes leadership development, effective class preparation, and a clear understanding of role responsibilities. Discover a transformative experience and acquire lifetime skills that will empower you to excel in the dance studio and beyond.

Instructors:
Christine Brkich – PAEC Ballet and Modern/Contemporary Examiner
A graduate from Ryerson University’s B.F.A. Dance Performance Program, Christine Brkich co-founded InMotion Dance Company and School. Later, Christine went on to develop Two Sisters Dance Projects, a co-artistic partnership with her sister, Lisa Brkich. Christine has enjoyed over 25 years of teaching dance to all age levels of varying disciplines. As a contemporary choreographer, Christine has created various works for Two Sisters Dance Projects, as well as their signature children’s program known as “The Legwarmers,” teaching life lessons through dance. Christine has also choreographed various musical theatre productions including “Grease!“, “Cabaret“, “Fiddler on the Roof” and many more receiving the Encore Award and the Drama Series Award for Best Choreography.
After recently completing her M.F.A. in Choreography at York University, Christine enjoys giving master technique classes in various dance disciplines as well as Choreographic Workshop classes to a variety of ages. Christine has instructed the York University additional qualification (AQ) courses for school teachers’ professional development. She is an Associate Member of The Society of Classical Ballet – Vaganova Method, and an examiner for the Performing Arts Educators of Canada (PAEC) in both the Ballet and Modern/Contemporary dance divisions, while holding the position of Chair of the Modern/Contemporary Dance division. A full time wife and mother of two beautiful young and vibrant children, Christine Brkich is thrilled to share her world of dance with students, teachers, and other artistic collaborators to help bring dance to this corner of the world.
Barbara Keenliside – Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
As an Honours Graduate of the Sheridan College Early Childhood Education Program, Barbara is the Supervisor and lead teacher of a cooperative preschool. As an educator, she takes every opportunity, big or small, to provide positive experiences for every child. Barbara believes each child is unique and has their own style of learning. Her goal is to provide a caring environment where all children feel safe to explore, create, and grow. Barbara is a full member of PAEC in the divisions of Ballet and Tap, and a Ballet examiner, as well as an Examiner-In-Training for the Tap division. Barbara sits on the Executive Board at PAEC and has specialized in teaching creative movement for students of various schools in the Halton and Hamilton regions.
