Teacher Training Certification Program: Kinder Program At The Toronto Dance Teacher Expo

The full day TTP Kinder membership course is open to all dance teachers interested in honing their skills with children aged 3-6 years of age. This course focuses on teaching the fundamentals to the early years, covering topics that include: knowledge of child development, speaking to children in a positive manner, discussing behaviours and strategies for success and use of props in the classroom. The afternoon will review the PAEC Kinder syllabus, and have interactive discussions and demonstrations for creative ideas. After completion of course knowledge, a successful candidate will gain their PAEC Kinder Membership, and will receive certification.

Instructors:

Eryn Curran – Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Eryn began dancing at the age of 3 and immediately fell in love. She started competing at the age of 4 and explored many disciplines of dance throughout her career including Jazz, Tap, Acro, Ballet, Lyrical and Hip Hop. Not only did she fall in love with dance, but she soon discovered her love for teaching early on.

Eryn continued her education outside of the studio, graduating from the Early Childhood Education Program at Sheridan College with High Honours. As an RECE, Eryn utilizes her knowledge about the growth and development of children to elevate her dance classes and to create multiple opportunities for dancers of all ages and abilities to participate. Eryn is an advocate of creating fun and safe dance classroom environments and has worked with organizations such as Autism Ontario to create programs to support dancers of all skill levels.

Barbara Keenliside – Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

As an Honours Graduate of the Sheridan College Early Childhood Education Program, Barbara is the Supervisor and lead teacher of a cooperative preschool. As an educator, she takes every opportunity, big or small, to provide positive experiences for every child. Barbara believes each child is unique and has their own style of learning. Her goal is to provide a caring environment where all children feel safe to explore, create, and grow. Barbara is a full member of PAEC in the divisions of Ballet and Tap, and a Ballet examiner, as well as an Examiner-In-Training for the Tap division. Barbara sits on the Executive Board at PAEC and has specialized in teaching creative movement for students of various schools in the Halton and Hamilton regions.
